Primark takes Recover's RColorBlend global
Fashion retailer Primark is to become the first high-street brand to incorporate RColorBlend fibre in its assortment on a global scale, according to an announcement.

Made by Recover, a Spanish manufacturer specialising in recycled cotton fibre and blends, RColorBlend requires no dyes, as it is produced by blending coloured textile waste fibres from used clothing or factory off-cuts with a recycled carrier fibre.

Recover’s own method of mixing these fibres allows it to achieve the desired hue. In this case, colours created include blue, pink and grey. As there is no dye treatment process, water and chemical use during production is also therefore reduced. Part of Primark’s sustainably minded Cares initiative, the recycled cotton and polyester t-shirts will be priced at $10, whereas the sweatshirts will retail for $17.

A selection of the brand’s stores across 14 markets in Europe and the US will carry the range.

Recover’s chief business development officer, Alejandro Raña, described the partnership between the two businesses as long-term and aimed at making “circular fashion accessible and affordable for everyone”.

Director of Primark Cares, Lynne Walker, said that Primark will continue to invest in similar partnerships to scale up the company’s use of recycled materials.
