Andar expands into height-boosting running shoes

South Korean athletic leisure label Andar has branched out into footwear, a new category for the company, with the launch of its Triple Air Knit 1.0 running shoe.

Limited to five sizes, but available in three neutral colourways, the lightweight knit sneakers are to be sold via Andar’s official channels, as well as in major department stores nationwide, from Seoul to Busan.

Andar landed on the final style and construction following 12 months of research and development at its in-house Athleisure Innovation Lab, where it honed several new technologies and focused on building the shoe from the forefoot out to prevent fatigue, it said.

A slimline ankle design is intended to be leg-lengthening, the brand added. Other key design elements include a hidden heel feature which can reportedly boost the wearer’s height by 5.5 centimetres.

The brand also opened its first Japanese pop-up shop on the third floor of Tokyo's Yurakucho Marui department store on September 30, as part of its global market entry strategy. This follows the launch of a local-language e-commerce site in March. The pop-up, which will close on October 13, will stock the new Relair line, plus more.
