Kolon eyes fishing’s fashion potential in South Korea
South Korean activewear company Kolon Sport has announced the launch of a new fishing apparel brand, Weather Monster, priced at a premium level.
Inspired by earlier fishingwear articles produced by Kolon Sport, as well as its technical know-how, Weather Monster’s debut collection comprises jackets, jumpers, trousers, vests, gloves and hats tailored to the category and its demands.
Weather Monster will participate in an official opening ceremony at Kolon Sport’s Hannam-dong flagship in Seoul on October 14. Initial distribution plans centre around affiliated e-commerce platform Kolon Mall, although the brand is also expected to be sold in major Kolon Sport retail stores in the future, local media said.
Kolon Sport is owned by Kolon Industries. Demonstrating the wider group’s vision for the domestic fishingwear market, another of its brands, Henry Cotton’s, has similarly released a line of fishing clothing this season. Taking the concept of its newly launched Fly Fishing Club as a jumping-off point, Henry Cotton’s has partnered workwear brand Spectator on a heritage-inspired range to be sold via Kolon Mall from October 15.
The collaboration will also be available at a pop-up in the Seoul Forest area of Seongsu-dong over October 7-23.
