Latest operating profits are new record for Goldwin
08/02/2023
First established in the year 1950 as a knitwear manufacturer in Oyabe, Toyama prefecture, the business now specialises in outdoor sports, producing and distributing technical apparel, footwear and accessories for The North Face (TNF) and others in Japan, as well as for eponymous brand Goldwin, which specialises in skiwear.
Consolidated results published by the group suggested year-on-year (YOY) growth of 29.1%, reaching just under $140 million or ¥18.3 billion. Meanwhile, net sales rose by 17.6% YOY to around $660 million (¥86.7 billion).
The company attributed its operating profits over the period to stronger than expected sell-through of its higher priced winter clothing lines, particularly TNF brand down jackets and fleeces, local media said.
Goldwin has subsequently raised its forecasted net sales for the year ending March 31 by approximately 7.2%. It now expects to achieve net sales of $865 million (¥113.5 billion) for the twelve-month period, as opposed to the $807 million (¥106 billion) previously forecasted, according to a summary of its results.
