Descente tests new shoe on 2,183 runners in Busan

Sports group Descente has unveiled its Enerzite Super V2 running shoe after 6,000 testing hours with 2,183 runners local to its Descente Innovation Complex Studio (DISC) for footwear in Busan, South Korea.

DISC’s Korean facilities are spread over three floors and 17,082 square metres. It houses separate research, materials and product labs, as well as its own design studio, a futsal court, a 400-metre running track and a sloping track for incline sprinting tests. Descente also operates another DISC facility for apparel in the city of Osaka in Japan, its home country.

The company’s latest available full-year figures show that it was the South Korean market that contributed the majority of its revenues most recently, leading the way with a 49% share. Japan followed in second place.

Enerzite Super V2 shoes have been designed to deliver maximum stability and optimum fit for Korean runners, a spokesperson told Seoul-based media. The footwear notably incorporates Descente’s Z-Foam Alpha midsole for added cushioning, energy return, elasticity and shock absorption, in addition to a special forefront construction and heel stabilising technologies.
