Kolon FnC to relaunch Head in South Korea
South Korean licensee Kolon Fashion n Culture (Kolon FnC) will reintroduce sports brand Head to the domestic market this spring-summer with a heritage-inspired product line-up, the company has revealed.
Founded as a ski manufacturer in Baltimore in 1950, Head is today based in Kennelbach, Austria.
Through heavier use of computer-aided, three-dimensional design technologies, Kolon FnC, which also runs outdoor brands Kolon Sport and Weather Monster, aims to reduce sampling and its associated time and cost factors significantly, local media said.
It hopes a more streamlined way of working will help it produce more responsive collections, better in tune with consumer demand, to ultimately turn Head into a "digital experience" or DX brand, reports added. Former national tennis player Jun Woong-sun has notably been recruited to spearhead an online “racquet club” and deliver a tennis “curriculum” via social media platform Instagram, using the handle @head_club.
At least initially, apparel and equipment collections, including tennis racquets, will be grouped under four lines: Heritage, Essential, Advanced and Daily. The brand will relaunch on Kolon FnC’s Kolon Mall site in early April, with a showroom concept to follow thereafter.
