China development will make ExpeDRY more affordable
Brands sourcing performance apparel in China will soon have access to ExpeDRY fast drying down insulation.
US-based down provider Allied Feather and Down recently installed machinery equipped to apply Fuze Biotech technology at its factories in China.
Allied and Fuze Biotech have worked together to develop ExpeDRY, a chemical-free, active-drying gold nanoparticle technology that bonds to natural down clusters. The partners say the technology can produce down insulation that dries up to 60% faster than untreated material, making it inhospitable to fungal growth.
On making the China announcement, they said implementing the technology in Chinese factories would lead to ExpeDRY becoming available at a price that will rival that of traditional hydrophobic down.
They said significantly more brands would now be able to adopt “this better performing option”.
