Alchemie Technology joins BTMA ranks
UK digital dyeing and finishing technology provider Alchemie has become the British Textile Machinery Association (BTMA)'s latest member.
A member of Fashion for Good’s 2021 start-up accelerator cohort, Alchemie has developed two technologies, Endeavour and Novara, designed to lessen resource intensity and improve accuracy.
The former system generates zero wastewater, the company says, and consumes 95% less water versus traditional dyeing. It further eliminates the need for post-dye wash processes, resulting in energy savings of up to 85%. On-demand digital colour changes are also reportedly possible at “any” run length. Meanwhile, precision finishing technology Novara is said to be capable of delivering finishing chemistry with accuracy down to the millimetre.
“Our solutions both dramatically reduce the environmental impact and the cost of dyeing and finishing, which has proven to be a compelling combination,” commented founder and chief executive at Alchemie, Alan Hudd.
The business, based near the city of Cambridge, notably inaugurated its first-ever demonstration hub on the premises of Taiwanese fabric producer Jsrtex in the past year.
BTMA is set to exhibit a range of its members’ technologies at the ITMA trade show in Milan this June.
