National Geographic expands in Asia-Pacific
South Korean outdoor brand National Geographic has opened its first retail store in mainland China inside the Hopson One shopping mall in Beijing.
The 120-square-metre unit marks the first of eight the business has planned for the mainland this year alone, according to media reports from within its home country, with Shanghai among the cities next on its radar.
This latest opening follows the inauguration of two new National Geographic stores in Hong Kong earlier in April, in the city's Mong Kok and Kwun Tong areas.
Elsewhere in the Greater China region, the brand has further announced a new store inside the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport mall in Taichung, Taiwan. The mall’s grand opening is due to take place on May 16.
Also in May, the apparel company expects to open the doors to its very first Australasian stores, beginning with major Australian cities like Sydney before expanding into New Zealand by the end of the current year.
