US sports company Nike has revealed plans to develop an “eco-sports field” in China’s southwestern Yunnan province, according to business news outlet Jing Daily, which focuses on the country’s luxury market.

The project and its associated initiatives, including the on-site recycling of pre-worn athletic footwear, will fall under the theme Spread Your Wings, the publication suggested.

Jing Daily said the main objective is "to inspire more girls to get active and unleash their potential through sports.”
