Kontoor Brands achieves water target two years early
US apparel group Kontoor Brands, the owner of denim and workwear company Wrangler and casualwear business Lee, has already logged 10 billion litres in freshwater savings since 2008, leading it to meet its 2025 targets two years ahead of schedule.
President and chief executive, Scott Baxter, attributed its progress to Indigood’s effectiveness, which he described as “providing an important industry standard”.
Originally introduced in 2019 as a foam-dyeing method to help reduce freshwater consumption, the programme was extended to other water-saving measures and technologies in 2021.
“Our approach is focused on a process of continuous improvement and while we have met our water goal early, there is still much work to be done,” said vice-president of sustainability, innovation and development, Dhruv Agarwal. “We will continue to raise the bar on the environmental performance of our operations and partner mills across the globe.”
