Polygiene announces metal-free, 100% bio-based active
Anti-odour textile technology supplier Polygiene is set to present a new, 100% bio-based active ingredient in response to market demand for metal-free antimicrobial additives at sports industry exhibition ISPO Munich (November 28-30).
The technology, called StayFreshBio, offers a plant-based alternative and will complement the Swedish group’s existing, silver-based offer. Its active ingredient is derived from “a natural, organic acid that is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.”
French biotechnology firm Proneem will be first to market for sports, outdoor, fashion and lifestyle customers from January, after signing an exclusive, three-year distributor agreement.
“I believe that the launch of StayFreshBio will be of great importance for the company’s future development,” commented Polygiene chief executive, Ulrika Björk. “For quite some time, we have been looking for a bio-based technology that meets all our tough quality requirements, which has not been easy.
"The collaboration with Proneem has proven to be a perfect match as we share the same vision and values.”
