Spinnova draws up plans for future plants

Textiles fibres maker Spinnova has teamed up with consultancy Rejlers Finland to produce a plan for scaling production, including designing and sizing new factories.

The package is not site-specific and can be used in planning the scaling up of production, regardless of the raw material base of the Spinnova fibre.

The patented technology developed by Spinnova can be used to produce textile fibres from wood and waste streams such as leather, textile or agricultural waste without the use of harmful chemicals in the fibre spinning process.

Teemu Lindberg, executive vice-president of production scaling at Spinnova, said: “The process design package preparation is a way to formalise the learnings gathered from Woodspin’s first factory and creates a scalable technology package for future plants. Initially, we will use the results of the preparatory work in the feasibility planning of Woodspin’s second plant.

"The same package can also be used more widely when planning factories that produce fibre from other than wood-based raw materials.”
