Skechers to host its first ‘friendship walk’ in Seoul
US athletic shoe brand Skechers will stage its first-ever “friendship walk” in Seoul’s Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park on June 8, local media have reported.
Participants can choose to enter either a 10-kilometre race or a 5-kilometre walk. Its flexibility sets it apart from the country’s other branded sports events, which typically have more of a running focus, Skechers said.
The event is a first for the brand, which entered the South Korean market in 2016.
Around 1,000 people are expected to participate, and the first 300 entrants will receive a pair of the company’s lightweight Go Run 7.0 trainers on a first-come, first-served basis until April 14.
Skechers celebrated record-high sales for the year ended December 31 and reportedly plans to open 600 new brick-and-mortar stores in China alone in 2024.
