Andritz to outfit future Circ recycling plant
Circ continues to prepare the groundwork for its first recycling facility, whose location has yet to be announced. This week, Austrian recycling machinery maker Andritz announced that it had received an engineering order from the US-based company. Circ has patented a hydrothermal process that separates polycotton blends to make recycled polyester and direct the recuperated cotton to lyocell production.

The forthcoming plant is expected to process 200 tonnes of textile waste per day. The two companies have been conducting trials for several years at Andritz’s Fibre R&D Centre in Ohio.

“With our holistic knowledge in resizing, mechanical separation, hydrothermal processing, recovery of cellulosic pulp as well as pulp cleaning and pulp drying, we have the right expertise to help [Circ] achieve its goals. Our experience in process development and machinery will help bring its innovative recycling technology to life,” commented Michael Waupotitsch, vice president of the Andritz textile recycling division.
