Far Eastern New Century snaps up PET plant in US
Taiwanese textile manufacturer Far Eastern New Century (FENC) has announced it has successfully bid more than NT$ 1 billion (around $34 million) for a PET plant in West Virginia, US.

The company said the plant has an annual capacity of 360,000 tonnes. It was previously owned by M&G Polymers, which has filed for bankruptcy protection. Production at the facility stopped in September 2017.

The transaction also includes a research centre in Ohio.

The PET facility in West Virginia would be FENC’s first in the US. It already has PET production plants in Taiwan and China, with a further plant in Vietnam expected to begin production in June.
