Montane highlights ‘pivotal’ year for sourcing relationships
UK-based outdoor brand Montane has described its 2025 financial year as “pivotal” in terms of its commitments to factory partners.
It achieved Fair Wear Foundation Leader status, a milestone it says reflects its commitment to ethical sourcing, transparency and the protection of workers’ rights.
In a new report, it said it has strengthened relationships with suppliers and improved risk assessments.
In FY24 and FY25 Montane made voluntary contributions towards a Bangladesh Employment Injury Scheme. The scheme, which is implemented by the ILO (International Labour Organisation) and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), covers all four million-plus workers in the clothing sector in Bangladesh.
Gary Bryant, managing director at Montane, said: “Looking ahead, we remain focused on key priorities: advancing and understanding the implications of living wage conversations supporting freedom of association, and deepening collaboration with our suppliers. We know that meaningful change takes time, but we are committed to continuous improvement and accountability.”
In terms of its materials, all virgin down is certified to the Textile Exchange Responsible Down Standard, while wool is certified to be mulesed free. From summer 2022, all cotton has been 100% organic. Montane is a Bluesign partner and a member of the Leather Working Group. In 2022, its expanded its use of DWR treatments and waterproof membranes free from the intentional use of PFAS chemicals, with a goal to move to a PFAS-free range next year.
