AAFA calls for increased transparency

“While we are very proud of the work our members are doing in chemical management, most brands have few, if any, in-house chemists,” it said. “We don’t always have the expertise to know exactly what chemicals are in our products, but our consumers, not to mention regulators, expect and need us to.”
The association, which represents more than 1,000 US brands, presented at the 2014 Responsible Care Conference & Expo in Miami, and suggested its Voluntary Product Environmental Profile - a disclosure form that allows suppliers and buyers to exchange information on the chemical make-up of products - as a solution.
“This trend towards supply chain transparency and product traceability is not going away any time soon,” it added.
