Brands show support for new Responsible Down Standard

03/07/2014

The first certificates have been issued for the Textile Exchange’s (TE) Responsible Down Standard, a programme launched in response to concerns about the supply chain and to provide a framework for brands and manufacturers in the field.

Initially developed by the North Face, the programme was ‘gifted’ to the TE to promote a better understanding across the industry, and Allied Feather and Down and Downlite have been awarded the first certificates.

Adidas, Coyuchi Ethical Expert, the European Outdoor Group, Fenix Outdoor, Four Paws International, the Outdoor Industry Association, Pro Down Alliance and Trendsetter Home Furnishings have been named on the standard’s steering committee.

Control Union, The North Face and the TE make up the technical group, while the advisory group consists of Allied Feather, C&A, Downlite, European Down and Feather Association, the International Down and Feather Testing Laboratory, IKEA, Patagonia, Vaude Sport and Textination,

Brand and supplier toolkits are available online through the TE.
