Patagonia donates $6.6m to environment in 2014
Patagonia has published its Environmental & Social Initiatives 2014 book which reveals the US company donated $6.6 million to environmental groups worldwide during fiscal 2014.

Patagonia employees decide which organisations receive funds generated from 1% of the company’s sales and 770 environmental groups in 16 countries benefited over the 12-month period.

"As a company made up of activists, our mission to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis goes far beyond our own company,” said Lisa Pike Sheehy, director of global environmental initiatives at Patagonia.

“These groups are mobilising their communities on the frontlines to take action in strategic and impactful ways. Supporting them is the cost of doing business.”

Since the program began in 1985, Patagonia has given over $56 million in grants and donations to more than 3,000 organisations.

The company also made its first investment from a venture capital fund, called $20 Million & Change; worked to create a new national park in southern Chile; released its first feature-length documentary, DamNation; and offered its first line of Fair Trade Certified clothes.
