Lofty aims at Vaude
Germany-based outdoor brand Vaude is striving to become "Europe's most sustainable outdoor outfitter" by 2015 and has launched a sustainability website to highlight its strategies. Its headquarters in Tettnang have been climate-neutral since 2012. Chinese producers of Vaude products pay their employees 50% more than the local minimum wage and its Vietnamese partners pay 115% more, it said.

Vaude introduced its own certification for “environmentally friendly” textile products, Green Shape, in 2010. In the 2013 summer collection, 69% of apparel had the Green Shape logo, increasing to 79% for summer 2014.

"We want to give everyone a chance to get an accurate picture of Vaude. This reflects the growing consumer desire to find out – before making a purchasing decision – what the manufacturer has done to meet its responsibilities,” said Vaude CEO Antje von Dewitz.
