Vaude tightens standards for Green Shape label
12/08/2015
Around 87% of summer 2014 clothing collection bore the Green Shape label, distinguishing products manufactured with particularly environmentally friendly manufacturing. This was an increase of 18% from summer 2013.
From the Winter Collection 2015/16, the company is upping the Green Shape criteria: the entire product life cycle must meet high ecological requirements and the production facilities are required to have verified social standards.
Harmful emissions per employee and per ton of manufactured products were reduced. Vaude compensated for all unavoidable emissions with a compensation payment to a climate protection project of the myclimate non-profit organisation.
During 2014, 96% of facilities were checked in accordance with the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), which campaigns for fair working conditions in the textile industry.
CEO Antje von Dewitz (pictured) said: "We want to be a sustainable company through and through. Each year we come a little closer to our vision.”
