US-based backpack brand Osprey Packs has appointed Bill Chandler, formerly the sales director of  Sherpa Adventure Gear, to a newly created position.

The company says the ‘outdoor sales manager’ role will enhance Osprey’s focus on customer service while supporting retail.

“Bill brings more than 25 years of experience as an owner of an independent rep agency, Nomad,” said Brad Bates, sales director at Osprey. “His experience and know-how will enhance our retailer partnerships in the outdoor channel.”

Osprey is headquartered in Cortez, Colorado, and the company runs a product development office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, close to the factories that make its products. It opened a design office in Mill Valley, California, in 2009.

Mr Chandler said: “My focus is to increase sales volume, retailer profitability, brand presence and the overall sustainability of the Osprey brand in the specialty arena. Not to mention a fabulous opportunity to relocate my family to the Four Corners area!”
