Three-layer Gore-Tex laminates emulate feel of soft fabrics
W.L. Gore & Associates has developed a new product with C-KNIT Backer Technology for hikers, trekkers and freeriders, which it says offers the ruggedness of a three-layer laminate with the look and feel of a soft fabric.

The aim, it says, was to develop a softer laminate that could be used by outdoor enthusiasts. It combined robust nylon outer fabrics with a Gore-Tex membrane made of PU-coated ePTFE and a new, patent-pending Gore C-KNIT Technology.

This combination makes the new 3-layer fabrics lighter, softer and more breathable, it says, having put them through extensive laboratory, washing and abrasion testing as well as year-long field testing.
