Renewable energy makes up half Thule’s total
Outdoor group Thule has met its mid-term goal of having more than 50% of the electricity its use sourced from renewable resources.

Highlighted in its newly published environmental report 2014, it said it was well on the way to achieving 60% by the end of 2016, and was also close to its target in terms of recycling.

Magnus Welander, CEO of the Swedish outfit, said: “We continue to improve to reach our mid-term 2016 targets to reduce electricity consumption by 5% have a 95% recycling rate, and derive 60% of our electricity from renewable resources.

“Last year I said that we would focus on further environmental improvements when it comes to designing and developing products. This is an important area since it determines the environmental impact of the product. We did just that through more in-depth environmental design training. We stepped up our work with Life Cycle Assessment workshops in our efforts to minimise the environmental footprint of our products.”
