Outdoor Against Cancer to launch in Friedrichshafen

A new initiative that wants to support people through cancer therapy will launch at press events during this year’s OutDoor trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Germany (July 15 to 18, 2015).

Outdoor Against Cancer (OAC) hopes to encourage people diagnosed with cancer and their partners, family and friends to take part in beneficial outdoor activities.

OAC founder Petra Thaller knows how it feels to be diagnosed with cancer and how important sport can help as therapy. “Whether outdoor gyms or moderate hiking, skiing, mountain walking or mountain biking, I find moving outdoors in the natural environment more important than ever.”
She founded OAC after being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Outdoor Against Cancer is supported by European Outdoor Group (EOG) and the OutDoor trade show.

Mark Held, general secretary at EOG, said: “We really hope that OAC can play an important role in bringing scientists and lawmakers together to help promote the positive effects that outdoor activities can have in the prevention cancer, or in recovery and rehabilitation.”
