Billabong makes dent in counterfeit products

Online brand protection firm NetNames has removed more than two million counterfeit Billabong group products since it partnered the sportswear brand in May.

The deal covers the Billabong, Element, Von Zipper and RVCA brands. 

NetNames manager Tyron Ball said the aim was to maximise online sales channels by keeping the brands clean online.

Lesley Skipp, intellectual property manager at the Billabong Group, said: “It is of paramount importance that we have a strategy to protect our customers from the disappointing quality and potential dangers of online counterfeits and also to protect our authorised retailers.”
