Asics follows peers into digital sector

Japanese sportswear group Asics has followed peers into the digital fitness sphere with the purchase of FitnessKeeper, the operator of fitness tracking app Runkeeper.

Runkeeper has more than 33 million registered users and provides users with notifications of running distance and pace during exercise.

Asics said: “Through this acquisition, Asics will be able to establish a one-to-one marketing channel using user data and obtain a digital technology development platform that is led by a management team with extensive experiences in this field.”
