Chinese apparel groups to tap Pakistan for sourcing

Press in Pakistan have reported that the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel (CCCT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) to increase trade between the two.

PRGMEA will arrange factory visits Chinese businessmen over the course of the year, with a view to Chinese investment in joint ventures in Pakistan.

Wages have been rising steadily in China, and Pakistan could be a new sourcing destination for its textile and apparel companies.
