Italian textile machinery firms aim to make up for lost time in Iran
A total of 27 textile machinery manufacturers from Italy are taking part in a roadshow in Iran, organised by industry association ACIMIT and by Italy’s exort promotion body, ICE.

ACIMIT said Italian technology providers once enjoyed an important share of the Iranian textile market and hope to regain some of the ground they have lost in recent years now that sanctions against trade with Iran are being removed.

The roadshow began on May 22 and will run until May 30, comprising symposium and presentation events in a number of cities, including Tehran, Yazd, Isfahan and Mashhad.

Raffaella Carabelli, president of ACIMIT, said at the start of the tour: “The sanctions regime of recent years has held the Iranian textile industry back and it needs to modernise to be competitive in the global market. In 2004, Iran was one of the top-ten export markets for Italian textile machinery exports, but we’ve had years of complete stasis. I hope this roadshow can help us all make up for lost time.”
