Nike supporting drive to make Chinese children more active
07/06/2016
Nike will work alongside China’s ministry of education over the next three years to transform the attitudes towards sport and physical in schools across the country. This includes training up to 7,000 teachers in how to deliver quality and engaging sports lessons, providing coaching and physical education resources for more than 300 schools and working to improve school basketball and soccer leagues.
“Today’s generation of children is the least physically active in history and we can help change that,” said Mike Parker, president and CEO of Nike.
He emphasised Nike’s belief that sport has the ability to unleash “human potential” and that active kids are happier, healthier and more successful. Nike will work with the ministry of education to increase the opportunities for Chinese children to be active before, during and after school, he added.
