Smartphone app to improve Vietnam’s labour standards

A new smartphone application is aiming to improve labour standards in the Vietnamese apparel industry. The application was launched by Better Work Vietnam, a partnership programme between the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation.

Available in English and Vietnamese, the Labour Law application will give users access to the country’s most up-to-date Labour Law Guide as well as a range of other features for factory personnel and industry partners.

“The user-friendly interface and simple navigation allows users to search key information and skip between chapters of the Law, as well as bookmark and share articles of interest,” said Better Work Vietnam.

The organisation hopes that the introduction of the application will educate workers on Vietnamese labour laws and ensure that employers comply with them. It also wants those outside the industry to be better informed on the compliance challenges faced by factories.
