The ZDHC Programme began in 2011 with six leading brands and today has a total of 63 contributors, made up of 23 signatory brands, 27 value chain affiliates and 13 associates.
High-end apparel brand Hugo Boss is the newest signatory brand, while three new value chain affiliates have joined up, including textile finishing products and yarn lubricants specialist Dr Petry Textile Auxiliaries. There are also three new associates, including the Taiwan Textile Federation and the German, Dutch and Swiss chemical manufacturers’ association Tegewa.
“I’m delighted to see continued growth and ongoing support and the commitment from the textile, leather and footwear industries,” said executive director, Frank Michel, on announcing the latest additions. “To achieve the industry-wide change, we all need to work together collaboratively, because no one brand or supplier can achieve the change alone and by acting in isolation.”
Tools ZDHC has in place to achieve its ambitions include a manufacturing restricted substance list, chemical guidance sheets and wastewater guidelines. It has also set up a platform called the ZDHC Academy to provide brands and manufacturers with training about chemical management.
