Cordura and Südwolle to develop performance wool yarns

02/05/2017
Functional fabric developer Cordura, owned by polymer fibre manufacturer Invista, is to collaborate with Südwolle Group to create a range of yarns that blend its nylon 6.6 fibres with wool.

The range will include a yarn that incorporates Merino wool. The yarns will be available in a range of counts and styles, and are designed to offer enhanced abrasion resistance, as well as strong tear and tensile strength performance.

"Working with Südwolle Group to reinvent a classic has offered us a new platform for growth, helping expand our portfolio to match the increasing consumer demand for the next generation of cross-functional wool fabrics," explained Cindy McNaull, global Cordura brand and marketing director.

"Our strong relationships with suppliers, customers and employees are a reflection of our dedication to the textile industry, and this goes hand-in-hand with the Cordura brand ethos," added Michel Mastio, head of Südwolle's circular knitting yarn segment for performance and outdoor clothing.

More information about the collaboration will be available at the forthcoming Techtextil exhibition in Frankfurt (May 9-12).
