TNF collection uses bottles collected from national parks

23/04/2018
Outdoor brand The North Face (TNF) has unveiled a new collection of t-shirts and tote bags made using recycled bottles collected from three US national parks.

The Bottle Source collection includes soft t-shirts for men and women and a durable tote bag. Cotton is the other main material used in the products.

The North Face, owned by VF Corporation, has said the Bottle Source programme has already collected more than 160,000 pounds (72,500 kg) of plastic bottles from waste in the Yosemite, Grand Teton and Great Smoky Mountain national parks.

"Bottle Source is a fitting next step in our materials innovation," said James Rogers, director of sustainability at The North Face. "This collection helps fund sustainability efforts in our national parks as more and more people enjoy these stunning places."

The brand will donate one dollar from each product in the Bottle Source collection to the National Park Foundation. The funds donated by The North Face will be made available to national parks to support sustainability projects, such as bear-proof recycling bins and reusable water bottle filling stations.
