Foot Locker looks to tap into the potential of adidas’ Speedfactory
Specialist athletic footwear retailer Foot Locker has announced a partnership with adidas that will see the two companies work together to create consumer-inspired footwear at the sportswear brand’s Speedfactory advanced production facilities.

There are two Speedfactories already in operation, one in Ansbach, Germany and one in Atlanta, US. Over the past 18 months, adidas has been releasing running shoes made at these facilities as part of its adidas Made For (AM4) project. Many of these products have been tailored to the running conditions of specific cities, including London, Tokyo and New York City.

Foot Locker and adidas will now work to develop AM4 shoes related to cultural events and sporting moments throughout 2019. The first product they have co-created is the adidas Made For Atlanta (AM4ATL) collection of running shoes and cleats. They have been created to mark the upcoming Super Bowl, which will take place in the city on February 3.

Andrew Gray, chief merchandising officer for Foot Locker in North America, said the company was excited about the “endless product opportunities” that this new partnership presents.

For his part, Zion Armstrong, president of adidas North America, said: “We're working with Foot Locker to create incredible product for consumers and deliver it faster than ever before. With its cutting-edge technology, Speedfactory is enabling us to reach this shared ambition.”
