Chinese mask makers create spike in textile exports

CTEI has reported that the value of China’s apparel exports fell by 6.9% year on year in the first 10 months of 2020. Over the same period, footwear exports declined in value by 22%.
There was an overall increase of 34.8% in the value of textile exports between January and October 2020, with the total amount reaching around $135 billion. However, this figure is inclusive of masks, the demand for which soared owing to covid-19.
