China promotes ‘high-end’ textile, apparel education
China’s Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province have come together to promote the reform of “high-end” textile and apparel vocational education in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan region, local media has reported. (The cities of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou are located within the “core” of the Yangtze River Delta megalopolis.)
With the view to create a new model for vocational education, in keeping with increased “international competitiveness”, the reform measures include improving the existing system, as well as enhancing its capacity for innovation.
Local undergraduate universities, vocational institutions and “leading high-end industry enterprises” will all join together under the scheme, in order to establish a number of inter-regional and inter-university industrial colleges.
