Labour-reducing robots shown in Daegu

Geongsan, South Korea-based Korea Textile Machinery Convergence Research Institute unveiled four types of manufacturing robot at the Daegu Robot Expo in late November, local media have reported.

The robots are intended to help increase textile factories’ capacity for automation during labour-intensive processes such as dyeing, packing and bobbin loading, for example.

It is hoped that the robots will help to “significantly” reduce defect rates, labour costs and potential for injury among workers.

Four more robot models will be introduced by the institute “from 2021”, taking the total number to eight.
