Dornbirn GFC-Asia to take place later this month
Following its pandemic-related postponement last year, the first international Dornbirn GFC-Asia conference is set to take place over March 23-24, both on-site in Daegu, South Korea and online. The event will also be recorded.
The conference’s theme is ‘Fibre to fibre - efficient circular recycling of PET waste to high quality fibres’, an important aspect of South Korea’s Green New Deal plan and a focus of several recent textile industry developments in the country (especially among outdoor companies BlackYak and The North Face).
With GFC standing for Global Fibre Congress, the sustainability-focused conference will feature speakers from Lenzing, Hyosung, Huvis and Kolon Industries, among other participants such as Samsung and Hyundai.
The event will take V-nomics (a portmanteau from the words “virus” and “economics”, coined by Professor Kim Nan-do of Seoul National University) as its starting point, with the intention to inspire not only a “better future”, but also “hyper-collaboration” between the Asian and European textile industries, in particular, going forward.
Established in 1961, Dornbirn GFC is the world’s largest international textile conference for the chemical fibre industry.
