Sales of Eider’s Touring Walk soar 130% in a week

K2 Korea-owned outdoor company Eider recently released its Touring Walk shoe, complete with an elastic carbon wave inside its X-foam midsole designed to absorb external shocks and provide comfortable cushioning.

Following research into the walking mechanism, the Touring Walk style was created specifically for walking for longer periods of time.

Due to warmer springtime weather on the Korean Peninsula, sales of the style soared 130% in the third week of March, compared to the previous week.

Waterproof Gore-Tex uppers and use of Cordura for the instep and toe, intended to prevent toe injuries when walking, reportedly enhance the shoe’s durability. An X-grip outsole has been added to prevent slipping on a variety of terrain.

Available in several colourways, three different versions of the Touring Walk have been made, depending on the buyer’s walking needs.

Named after the country’s longest walking trail, the Haeparang, which winds up the country from the port city of Busan in the south to the North Korean border, the style has been issued in Haeparang T-1800 (suitable for walking trips of around 20 kilometres a day), plus Haeparang T-750 and Haeparang T-450 (both suitable for lighter outdoor activities and walks of less than 10 kilometres per day) versions.

K2 Korea officially acquired the global trademark rights to the Eider brand from France’s Calida (a Lafuma affiliate) in 2020, but the Seoul-based conglomerate has been selling Eider products throughout South Korea as a licensee since 2006. Eider is currently one of the country’s top eight outdoor brands
