PGA Tour and LPGA Golf Wear gear up 25% in Korea
According to local media reports, a recent golfing boom in South Korea has resulted in sales of PGA Tour and LPGA Golf Wear gear increasing by 25.2% year on year in the country.
A series of victories by sponsored professional golfer Jang Ha-na (pictured wearing LPGA Golf Wear), who plays on the LPGA of Korea Tour, has reportedly added to the brands' credibility and popularity among shoppers as “clothing to win a championship”.
A spokesperson for PGA Tour and LPGA Golf Wear said: “PGA and LPGA are world-class sports brands that symbolise golf. We do our best to create trendy and high-quality products that can meet the tastes of even young consumers.”
The population of golfers in South Korea rose by around 460,000 to an estimated 5.15 million last year, including a noticeable increase in players in their twenties and forties.
Korean golfers such as Inbee Park, Park Sung-hyun and Kim Sei-young have dominated the women’s game for the past decade, according to the International Olympic Committee.
