Kodiak gives nod to suppliers with ‘snikers’ collection
Canadian footwear brand Kodiak is blending the comfort of sneakers into a hiking line, with a collection it is calling “snikers” for autumn-winter 21.
Tannery ISA TanTec, Primaloft, Ortholite and Vibram are among suppliers it has chosen in a quest to be “more environmentally considered”.
The Kindersley is a waterproof, alpine-style urban hiker with a padded suede tongue and mesh padded collar, combined with PrimaLoft PURE insulation, which emits 48% less carbon in the manufacturing process. It includes a slip-resistant rubber outsole and 100% recycled plastic shoelaces.
The Stave features premium full-grain waterproof LITE leather and suede, a 100% recycled plastic lining, a mesh collar, tongue and 50% recycled plastic laces as well as a new footbed and PrimaLoft PURE insulation.
The Chadsey is a waterproof leather winter boot with 100% recycled plastic textile and a removeable, recycled polyester Ortholite footbed plus Vibram Arctic Grip outsoles.
Karen McSorley, senior brand manager, said: “With our snikers we wanted to blend comfort, performance and a modern look to help consumers get outside, no matter the conditions. We are also excited to use PrimaLoft’s PURE insulation and LITE Leathers from ISA TanTec, working toward our goal of more environmentally-considered products.”
