Polartec announces 2021 Apex Design Award Winners
Moncler, Nike and Norrona have been named among winners of Polartec’s 2021 Apex Design Award, the annual competition celebrating the best products made from Polartec fabric technologies.

The winning products were selected from hundreds of entries based on creative uses of Polartec and will receive a Malden Wizard trophy.

The winners are:

66°North - Kría Neoshell Power Fill Parka, which uses the first combination of Polartec Power Fill, a 100% post-consumer recycled fill insulation, and Polartec NeoShell, a breathable waterproof fabric.

ABSNT - theROBE uses Power Air, which is 100% recyclable and 25% lighter than the initial product. Power Air is the first fabric technology engineered to minimise microfibre shedding.

And Wander - alpha AIR T. This fabric technology, originally developed for US Special Forces, regulates thermal comfort due to its breathability. The Japanese outdoor brand uses a minimalist, fashion-oriented design.

Ariat Rebar Polartec Elite Series - The collection employs a set of Polartec fabric technologies to create a thermoregulating layering system. For the base layer, Ariat chose Power Grid; for the mid-layer, Power Stretch technical fleece treated with Polartec Hardface, and for the outer layer, Power Fill.

Haglöfs - High Loft Wool Jacket. As a long-time Polartec innovation partner, Haglöfs embraced an evolution of Polartec High Loft lightweight insulation made with merino wool for its natural thermoregulation and comfort on the shoulders and torso. The arms and sides are engineered with Power Wool.

Hikerkind - Midlayer_01. For the brand’s initial product, Hikerkind selected Power Air. The fabric is made in the US and the garment is constructed in New York.

Moncler - Grenoble Collection uses NeoShell in a tracksuit silhouette, which will be released in January.

Nike ACG - Nike’s outdoor-inspired sub-label, ACG (All Conditions Gear) uses Classic 200 fleece made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyester with an all-over print.

Norrøna falketind Alpha120 Zip Hood, a mid-layer, uses a hybrid of Alpha and Power Grid fabrics.

Orvis - PRO Sun Hoodie. The first sun hoodie made from Power Grid, created for optimal temperature regulation and versatile performance.

P.A.M. Liveable Recycled Shearling Coat - Australian fashion brand Perks and Mini designed this coat with 100% PCR Thermal Pro shearling-style fleece.

Sportful - Total Comfort Jacket uses a hybrid of Alpha Direct and NeoShell for winter cycling.
