Chinese industry rallies around climate stewardship

A total of 57 Chinese textile enterprises jointly announced the Climate Stewardship 2030 Accelerating Plan recently, local media have reported.

Banding together with reducing carbon emissions as their unifying objective, companies including Sateri, Chenfeng Group and Peacebird all pledged to rollout training sessions on tackling environmental issues within six months.

Beyond this, specific goals on how to achieve carbon neutrality will be mapped out within one year. By the end of a two-year period, precise strategies will reportedly be made public.

President of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), Sun Ruizhe, commented that he hoped Chinese textile firms would continue to innovate along the lines of high-quality, sustainable development. He added that increasing sector-wide participation in the “green economy” was paramount.

Earlier this year, CNTAC held a conference to discuss the end goal of a carbon-neutral textile industry, an event which also saw the prominent participation of Peacebird.
