Shanghai’s Donghua celebrates 70 years
Shanghai’s Donghua University, especially well-regarded for its textile engineering, materials science and fashion design scholarship in China, recently celebrated the seventieth anniversary of its founding.
Among other festivities, a joint university-industry “power development” forum was held on site in celebration of the milestone. It was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and high-ranking figures from other universities across the country.
Donghua’s president, Yu Jianyong, commented that the university will focus on new materials, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, smart textiles, wearables and high-performance fibres and composites as the institution enters this next phase in its history.
