Recycled and biodegradable fibres dominate in Daegu

South Korea’s annual Preview in Daegu (PID) trade show is set to welcome in-person visitors between March 2 through 4 at Daegu Exhibition and Convention Center (EXCO).

Just under 210 international textile firms will present their latest innovations for spring-summer 2023 across around 485 booths at EXCO.

Hosted by the Daegu Gyeongbuk Textile Industries Association, this year’s show marks PID’s twentieth anniversary.

The overarching theme of the fair is the “future value of sustainable textiles” and, as a hybrid event, online sourcing via a dedicated digital showroom platform has already commenced online. Biodegradable and recycled fibres, plus advanced composite materials, will dominate this year, during which there will be an express focus on spotlighting potential routes towards carbon neutrality, PID said.

Local firms including Hyosung TNC, Haewon Trading, Yes Textile Consulting Lab, Samsung C&T Trading, Hyunjin Knit, TS Textile, Woojoo Global, Seyang Textile and R&D Textile are all variously expected to exhibit recycled and/or biodegradable fibres, local media reported, as well as “eco-friendly” outdoor and performance fabrics.
