Taekwang to pour $113m into aramid facility

Textile and chemical company Taekwang Industrial, based in Seoul, is due to invest roughly $113 million (145 billion South Korean won) in the expansion of its aramid fibre factory in the city of Ulsan.

Taekwang makes Acepara, a high-tenacity, heat-resistant para-aramid fibre used in technical textiles and protective clothing. The company began commercial aramid production in 2015, starting with an annual manufacturing capacity of 1,000 tons.

Following this latest investment, the plan is to increase yearly production to 5,000 tons by 2025. In so doing, the business hopes to advance its competitiveness at both cost and product level, local media said, as well as grow market share by boosting its sales.
