Parley makes the team with adidas boot debut
Germany-based sports brand adidas has introduced football boots with uppers containing 50% Parley Ocean Plastic and 50% recycled polyester in the yarn.
The footwear marks the first time the company has added waste plastic material collected by long-time partner Parley for the Oceans to football boots, it said.
A wave-like pattern thus dominates the shoes’ design, in a nod to each pair’s ties to the ocean conservation organisation. They are currently available in either Predator Accuracy.1, Copa Pure.1, X Speedportal.1 or Predator Accuracy+ versions.
The release follows the unveiling of a hiking boot “developed specifically for female anatomy” by adidas outdoor brand Terrex earlier this month and February's launch of Ultraboost Light, a running shoe built on 30% lighter new performance foam material Light Boost.
