Time for Ultraboost Golf, adidas says

Sports brand adidas has introduced a golf-ready version of its Ultraboost performance running shoe, first released in 2015, designed specifically for golfers.

Called the Ultraboost Golf, the new model still has full-length Boost cushioning, but this time features an Adiwear rubber outsole with raised textured lugs instead of spikes, as well as “an anti-clogging polished surface” to maintain traction on different course terrain.

Similarly, the shoes’ Primeknit upper, which harnesses hydrophobic yarns in the vamp and water-repellent mesh towards the back, is designed to repel unwanted moisture. Other golf-specific elements include a specially engineered anti-slip and moisture-wicking sockliner made of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) and a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) heel clip, which adidas said would help deliver lateral stability throughout the swing.

“Even though it’s been around for less than a decade, [the Ultraboost] is such an icon within the brand, so we took our time to only add pieces that would benefit golfers while still keeping the DNA that makes this shoe so great,” director of global footwear at adidas Golf, Masun Denison, said of the product development process.

“At the heart of Ultraboost is a silhouette that perfectly blends high-performance with streetwear fashion and that’s something we wanted to bring to the course.”
